Definition
The Grants Management Intern reports directly to the Director of Administrative Services and, under his/her direction, is responsible for assisting with ongoing grants management and program support to the LAVTA Administrative Services Department. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Finance Analyst in: grant analysis and understanding; maintaining program documentation; management of program reporting databases; timely delivery of monthly and quarterly reports, and maintenance of an auditable program file archive. This is a part-time (16-20 hours per week) temporary position (currently budgeted through June 30, 2009). Pay range from $10.00 to $15.00 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
Examples of responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following.
Provide grants program support
- assist in grant analysis and understanding (scope of work, timeline, deliverables).
- maintain central files and other grants-related documentation, both paper copy and electronic housing database records.
- assist in maintenance of an auditable program file archive.
Grant reporting
- assist in management of program reporting databases.
- work and coordinate with LAVTA staff and/or contractors or vendors to insure timely delivery of monthly and quarterly report information to be provided to program funding source.
- generate monthly, quarterly, and closeout financial status reports for all grants programs.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Analyst
Qualifications
Credentials:
May be enrolled as a college student at a senior to graduate level with major coursework in public administration, business or related field pertinent to position.
Skills:
Skilled in the use of English language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Proficient with PC-based software applications including Word, Excel, Access or other relational database and presentation applications. Proofread and edit documents. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability organize and prioritize work to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines, and follow detailed instructions.
Knowledge:
grant/contract reporting requirements; project management and budgeting; database concepts and common data processing issues; federal, state, and local government agency programs, issues, and regulations (OMB Circulars) as well as state, federal, and regional laws relating to funding and operations of public transit. Knowledge or familiarity with the Livermore Tri-Valley area is desired but not required.
Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) provides fixed route and paratransit public transportation for the Tri-Valley communities of Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton, California.
